I recently joined the Maastricht University in the Netherlands as an Assistant Professor. To be precise, I am a member of the Faculty of Science and Engineering as well as the M4I Division of Imaging Mass Spectrometry.

Throughout my scientific career, I have built up an extensive expertise in imaging mass spectrometry, specifically time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS), and its application in biological and clinical research. By combining molecular ion imaging and depth profiling, this technique allows for 3D chemical imaging with subcellular resolution. This offers a novel, label-free way to investigate biological samples such as tissue sections and even single cells. At Maastricht University, I will start building a research program and group focusing on developing multi-omic ToF-SIMS imaging in order to help us understand disease and biology from atoms to anatomy!
